I need to get out of my head!! :)

I did probably the best clean I've ever done tonight during OLY class and just felt like everything clicked.  Excited ...the small child inside of me turned around hoping that someone had seen it.  Of course, everyone was doing their own thing.  Pretty confident at this point, I ask Mark to watch me do it because I am in need of some additional positive social reinforcement.....and instantly, you'd think I'd never done one before.  After telling him to go away (nicely), I worked with the pvc for a little bit and my form seemed better, but not great.  I was in my own head the entire set.  Any and all combinations of things like....I didn't move quick enough...I couldn't get around my knees....I was pulling too early with my arms...my grip was too tight....I wasn't deep enough in a squat...happened.  UGH!  I definitely need to work on this more because the same thing was starting to happen last week when I was over-thinking everything.

Over all, the workout tonight was pretty light, which I was happy for because I hit the proverbial wall driving home and would have rather napped then worked out.  I felt good afterwards, however.

Split Jerk: 50% x 5, 55% x 5, 60% x 5, 65% x 5
Clean:  5 or 6 sets of weights that I could do easily for that many sets....I maxed out at about 50lbs because of the issues I was having with technique and my stupid shoulder again.
Overhead Squat: 50% x 5, 55% x 5, 60% x 5, 65% x 5
* of one rep max
5x5 hurdle hops - 24in

Split jerks were okay.  Cori gave me a few good suggestions for improvement and I think I got the hang of those pretty well.  Max was 45 lbs.  My shoulder pain returned again.  Cleans...ugh.  Overhead squats went well.  I like that lift.  There's just something about it that is better than the others.  My technique for it seems pretty solid, so now it's just getting comfortable going up in weight.  Tonight, I maxed at 45 lbs.

I tried a few pull-ups tonight and the green band was really easy.  (easy green band = exciting!)  I tried the smaller blue band next and I couldn't do one with it, but with 2 of them I knocked out 10 more.  Pull-ups, you are sooooo going down!

Today probably wasn't my best food day....I am totally craving bacon.  Breakfast consisted of and egg and bacon scramble and water to drink.  I made a coffee for the ride in the car.  Mid-morning snack consisted of a banana and then some pot roast for lunch.  In the afternoon, I had some blueberries and another banana.  (Don't even say it Mark...too much fruit.)  I had a few pieces of bacon as a snack when I got home from work at 6 <- MAJOR CRAVING!  Post gym, I had 1/2 a sweet potato and a little bit of chicken.

We need to come up with some new recipes for next week.  I found one with scallops and asparagus...which we'll probably make this weekend.  Weekends will be interesting because typically we've eaten out a lot and we won't be able to do that as easily now.  Probably a lot of salads from Chipotle are in my future.  : \  Suggestions/ideas for paleo meals are welcome!!

  1. Hey Erica! Some people I know have gone Paleo. I'm not sure if I could do it, although I've seen a pretty broad interpretation of it! There's a big group on FB called The Paleo Home. I did my first xfit workout today--I'm sure it will be the first of many :)
